From black box to grey box and white box
In 2024, Patchmanager was in the midst of moving toward ISO-27001 certification. An important part of that is conducting regular penetration tests. The collaboration with Warpnet began with a black box pentest,. In a Black Box pen test, no context about the target environment is provided; the testers have no insight into the structure of the target and what users are there. After three successful black box pen tests, trust grew between Patchmanager and Warpnet. CTO Jerry Seager explains:

Growing confidence
With increasing confidence, Patchmanager decided to move forward with gray box and then white box pen testing. With white box pen testing, Warpnet gained full access and insight into the system being tested. This includes the architecture, source code, user accounts, links and more. Because the pentester knows everything, they can find in-depth vulnerabilities, verify the effectiveness of security measures and perform targeted testing.
After each pen test, Warpnet provided a comprehensive and risk-oriented report. Based on this, Patchmanager was able to continuously improve the security of their internal network and product.

24/7 protection
The partnership further grew to include Security Operations Center (SOC) services. The Warpnet SOC Patch Manager now offers 24/7 monitoring by cybersecurity experts who detect and respond to threats, alert them to suspicious activity and fully remediate security incidents. Thanks to advanced AI, proactive threat hunting and in-depth analytics, threats are quickly detected and eliminated.
