Joyce-House is a care organization with guts. Driven by the conviction that everyone is entitled to maximum control over their own lives, Joyce-House is committed every day to an inclusive society in which people with physical and/or mental disabilities are central. Over the past year, it became clear that the organization is not only concerned with cybersecurity because it has to, but mainly because it wants to. Therefore Joyce-House joined forces with Warpnet and Nestor Security.
Cybersecurity in healthcare
Good cybersecurity and information security in healthcare is incredibly important. Joyce-House has always taken physical and digital security seriously, but the upcoming Cybersecurity Act (CBW) gave the topic added urgency.
“In this day and age, you can no longer be limited in your cybersecurity efforts,” he said.tells Sjoerd Eugelink, Manager of Safety & Technology at Joyce-House.“The CBW was a real wake-up call for us. We see it as an opportunity to establish robust and future-proof information security for our clients.”
With the Cybersecurity Act (CBW) in sight, Joyce-House immediately raised the alarm.“We need and want to do something with this,” says Irene Bernsen, Director-Treasurer of Joyce-House.“There are organizations that shy away at the thought of the CBW soon coming into effect: ‘it's too expensive and far from my bed.’ We believe: you work with someone else's people and children. Their data must not end up on the streets. That's why physical and digital security is incredibly important to us.”
Although the Cybersecurity Act was a clear trigger to structurally address cybersecurity, Joyce-House emphasizes that intrinsic motivation has been decisive. “Even without this law, we certainly would have gone ahead with this,” he said.”says Irene Bernsen.“Maybe at a different time and in a different way, but protecting our clients, staff and organization feels perfectly logical to us. We are tremendously motivated to do this right.”
Warpnet & Nestor Security as partners
For the implementation of the NEN 7510, supplemented by the requirements from the Cyber Security Act (CBW), Joyce-House went looking for a reliable and expert partner. They found it in Nestor Security. Part of this approach is a Security Operations Center (SOC), in which Joyce-House's digital environment is monitored 24/7.
Thanks to the partnership between Nestor Security and Warpnet the choice to house the SOC with Warpnet was quickly made. For Joyce-House, regional cooperation played an important role in choosing a partner. Irene Bernsen explains:“We prefer to work together regionally as much as possible and like to do meetings face-to-face. If you look at partners in the North, a few remain - and Warpnet and Nestor Security stood out head and shoulders above them.”
Sjoerd Eugelink elaborates on the collaboration: “The personal contact with the teams is super nice. Apart from someone providing us with services, you also get a sparring partner. If I had to describe the cooperation I would say: pleasant, professional, approachable, regional & expert.
According to Sjoerd and Irene, that regional focus in this collaboration does not come at the expense of quality. Irene explains:“Sometimes a regional choice means sacrificing expertise, but that is absolutely not the case with Warpnet and Nestor Security.”
