New Woelwijck: cybersecurity in healthcare

Nieuw Woelwijck: cybersecurity in de zorg

New Woelwijck is a village where nearly 400 people with intellectual disabilities live. The residents of Nieuw Woelwijck require intensive 24-hour supervision throughout their lives.

In 2025, Nieuw Woelwijck worked with Warpnet to pen test their internal systems.

Annual pen test according to NEN 7510

According to the NEN 7510-standard, ensuring information security is mandatory for healthcare institutions. An important part of this is conducting an annual pen test: a controlled attack on the network to detect vulnerabilities and then fix them.

In 2025, Nieuw Woelwijck started looking for a reliable partner to perform this test. The requirements were clear: technical expertise, clear communication and a good price. The choice fell on Warpnet.

Black Box pen test

The collaboration began with a Black Box pen test. In this method, testers receive no prior information about the target environment. This simulates a realistic attack situation where the pen testers have no insight into the network or users.

“The cooperation with Warpnet was very clear, because we drew up a clear scope together beforehand. The pentester neatly adhered to it and always consulted if any failures could arise.”

Jasper Zondervan, system administrator and security officer at Nieuw Woelwijck

A clear picture

Following the pentest conducted, Warpnet supports in remedying the risks identified during the test by providing technical insight and advice. Nieuw Woelwijck received a detailed report with:

  • An explanation of the risks discovered;
  • Risk rating (low, medium, high);
  • Practical advice to improve security.

“Warpnet's pen test provided us with a clear picture of the bottlenecks in our security so that we could improve it further. We immediately fixed the high-risk points in the week that followed. So we know that our residents and staff can live and work safely and that we comply with NEN 7510.”
